Design Weaver Marketing

Selecting Effective Search Engine Keyword Phrases

There are two prospectives from which you can choose your search engine keywords, but there is only one way to select effective search engine keyword phrases.

* One is that of a website owner with a solution – WRONG

* The other is that of a web surfer with a problem – RIGHT

Most people develop their search engine keyword list from their own perspective, that of a person with a solution. But that is not going to work because people don’t search for things based on solutions, they search based on problems.

Let’s say you are a landscape contractor and you specialize in repair of storm damage such as land slides or floods that wipe out your yard. You have all the tools and other things needed to do this specialized type:

* Bulldozer with special attachments for muddy work.
* Licenses with the sate and city
* Referrals and your customer testimonials

And these are things you want to emphasize on your website so you might want to use them as your search engine keywords. But these will be mostly ineffective because your potential customers are not looking for solutions in that sense. They are searching based on their problems, not your solutions.

What is needed is a set of search engine keywords based on your potential customers problems, not your solutions such as…

* mud slide
* land slide
* flood damage
* water damage

So when you go to develop your search engine keyword list you need to step into the shoes of your customer and then think about their problems and how they would go about searching for solutions.

Social Auto Sales
Design Weaver Marketing
Design Weaver Marketing - Cost effective alternatives to traditional marketing solutions

Can You Sell Cars Online?

Many people believe you can not sell a new car online. Just ask any successful car sales person and they will tell you flat out… It can’t be done. It is as simple as this,

‘Nobody is going to plop down $20K to $50K for a car over the Internet without so much as a handshake’.

And the numbers tend to agree. Even with a large investment in Internet technology such as Mobile Apps, Facebook Fan Pages, Twitter accounts and all the time and effort that go along with an auto dealerships push onto the Internet, there does not seem to be any significant increase in sales. The explosion in popularity of social networking and the Internet does not seem to be translating into increased ROI.

Internet Transforms Industries

Transformed Industry

On the other hand, there can be no denying that the Internet and social networking hold the potential to transform industries and make or break businesses over a very short period time. What determines an industries vulnerability to change from the outside is where the control rests. When it’s in the hands of the customers, the industry closely follows the direction of the Internet users. When the control of the industry is in the hands of a a few wealthy and entrenched individuals, as is the case with car dealerships, the industry stays it’s coarse in total disregard to the wishes of the the Internet and it’s users.

But just like water can wear down a mountain if it has enough time, auto dealerships will eventually have to give in and go with the flow of the Internet and it’s users. The only question is how long will they resist the inevitable changes going on all around them. And which one will give in and go with the flow.

Fundamental Misunderstanding of Internet and Social Networking

The problem the dealerships are having is a fundamental misunderstanding of the way the Internet and social networking functions. It’s understandable that the dealerships are having a hard time grasping the the new philosophy. It’s hard to teach an old dog a new trick.

Auto Dealerships and Manufactures

No only is change is pounding on the gates of auto dealerships in the form of customers, but it’s also coming from inside the dealerships in the form of the auto manufactures. Toyota for instance has introduced the Scion with Pure Pricing that reflects the customers desire not to have to wheel and deal to purchase a new car. And that is what it all boils down to after all. Customers don’t trust auto dealerships and their sales people as far as they can throw them.

Scion with Pure Pricing

Auto dealerships will fight tooth and nail to keep the good old fashion pricing system. They can’t imagine a customer trusting then because they can’t imagine themselves being trustworthy. And the Internet can’t help them sell cars that way.

Human Connections Instead of Sales

So instead of trying to selling cars over the Internet, dealerships need to start building trust with their customers over the internet. And I don’t mean any thing special or heavy… Dealerships just need to start making connections between themselves and customers. Human connections. And that is what social networking and the Internet do best.

Building Customer Trust

It’s very easy to create connections and build a degree of trust online with an email, a blog post or comment, a simple brief chat session or ever a wall post, Twitter Tweat or simple Facebook Like. Every last employee should be online with their picture in a profile. Their likes and dislikes, their background and on and on. It’s really very simple. And just imagine over time as the connection begin to form and multiply just like social networking itself.

Fearless Customers Buy Cars

Eventually someone is going to want to buy a car. And if they know someone in that dealership, someone with whom they have made that connection, they can step onto the dreaded car lot, walk right past the sales person and ask for the person they trust. It does not matter if it’s a mechanic, a receptionist or even one of the sales people, once the customer is standing in the showroom without the fear of being ripped of or being made a fool of, what else is left?

All that is left is picking out their car and closing the deal. That car was not sold online, but the Internet made the connection between two people and that in turn made the sale possible. And the effects of this new kind of sale don’t end with a single car sale, in fact far from it. Because this is a recipe for something unique to the Internet, something very powerful. This situation has the potential of going viral.

Viral Marketing

A discussion of the potential viral effect here is beyond the scope of this article. But I would like to mention that if done properly, the viral effects if this type of event could have an exponential impact on the results achieved.

Just ask any successful car salesperson and they will tell you absolutely not. Ask an internet marketers like myself and I’ll say the same thing. But that does not mean the internet cannot be a crucial part of automotive sales. The fact of the matter is not as simple as that.

Design Weaver Marketing - Cost effective alternatives to traditional marketing solutions

1. Customers use the internet to find local businesses

64% of customers use online search as their main way of finding local business; only 28% of people still use paper directories.

2. Online searches for local businesses are up 58%

In 2009 the number of ‘local searches’ (searches that included a location in it) grew by 58%. This was more than double the growth in general search volumes meaning that more & more people are looking for local businesses via search engines like Google.

3. Local search marketing is highly targeted

Using local search promotes your business to local customers at the moment that they’re looking for a business.

4. Highest conversion levels of all advertising channels

Local directory marketing has higher conversion rates than any other traditional advertising solution, as high as 50% conversion.

5. Mobile internet growth

More and more local customers use mobile phones to find local business. Local SEO covers both PC & mobile internet access so you never miss out on a potential customer.

6. Great ROI or return on investment

Unlike local news papers, phone books and leaflets with local SEO there is little wasted exposure. You reach potential customers when they need you not when they don’t.

7. Only 10% of businesses have claimed their Google Places listings

Most local businesses haven’t come to to grips with online marketing. That leaves the door open for you to get a head start on your competitors. Strike now while the iron’s hot.

8. Most Local Search opportunities are free!

It’s free to claim your business listing in Google Places and to list your business in hundreds of other online business directories.

9. Local newspaper readership is down by as much as 80%

Fewer & fewer people are reading newspapers. Recent figures show some newspapers have lost 80% of their readership in the last 20 years. Why? Because local people are turning to the internet for their news as well as to find the local businesses.

10. 70% of local consumers trust online business reviews

Word of mouth is a major factor in the success of any local business. So get your trusted customers to review your business online and you can attract hundreds of new customers.

Design Weaver Marketing
Design Weaver Marketing - Cost effective alternatives to traditional marketing solutions

What are your customers saying about your business online? If you don’t know, you should find out. If you do know you might ask yourself if the reviews of your business sound right. If they don’t, they may well not be real customer reviews. But how can you tell if your business reviews are real or not? And if they are not real, what can you do about it?

Take a look at the screen shot below. It a picture of a Google Places listing for Camelback Toyota. Notice anything strange about the reviews?

Think about it, if a business is really good at pleasing their customers they are going to get mostly good reviews. Right? Or at least 3, 4 and 5 star reviews. And if a business is really bad at pleasing their customers they are going to get mostly bad reviews. Or mostly 1, 2 and 3 star reviews.

But in neither cast should a business get a bunch of 1 star reviews and a bunch of 5 star reviews. It just does not make sense that a business can do such a bad job of pleasing some customers and such a good job at pleasing others, right?

(keep in mind the results will change over time)

If it’s your company you know if the business reviews are fake. If it’s your competition you might want to find out if they are cheating by posting business reviews themselves. One way to tell is if the reviews contrast one another. One says they are dishonest and gives them 1 star. Another says they are completely honest and gives them 5 stars.

There are more technical ways of spotting fake reviews as well. And Google knows about them. Companies that post fake business reviews will likely get busted before long and pay a steep price. So it’s not a good idea to post fake reviews.

How do you go about getting real positive reviews? QR Codes is the answer.

Design Weaver Marketing - Cost effective alternatives to traditional marketing solutions

Cost Effective Alternatives To Traditional Marketing

Reputation Management and Mobile Applications

Take a close look at the facts below.

As of July 2011, Facebook has more than 800 million users!

Over 450 million smartphones sold in 2011 alone!

Most of 55,000,000 Google Places listings are un-claimed!

Local Search results are displayed above Internet results!

Can you see the potential opportunity these facts present? But if you don’t act now to take advantage of these opportunities, you can bet your competition will. Don’t miss the boat.

If you are not moving forward,
you are falling behind.

The fact of the matter is this… Businesses that act first will end up with the largest portion of the market share. The businesses that beat the competition to the punch will never even need look back. By then it will be too late for the losers.

We combine three main technologies that form the foundation of the explosion in growth of the Internet and Smart Phone use we see today.

These three services tie in with each other seamlessly to take advantage of the three new powerful technologies. Web 2.0 Sites Social Networks – Facebook Micro Blogs – Twitter and Social Media – YouTube Smart Phone technology

Local Search Optimization

Local Search is a specialized Internet search engines technology that allow users to submit Internet searches within a geographically constrained area in order to get results, or primarily business listings, from their local region or city.

The top Local search provider listed below account for over 90% of the Local Search traffic and we target them with most of our efforts accordingly.

Google Places

Yahoo! Local

Bing Local

A typical Local Search query can include;

Information about “what” a visitor is searching for (keywords, business category, the name of a consumer product).

Information about “where” a visitor is located (a street address, city name, postal code, or geographic coordinates like latitude and longitude).

On of the things that makes Local Search so powerful is it’s ability to provide geographically relevant results without the location of the visitor being specified within the search query. This bit of magic is accomplished by a technology called Geo targeting

Online Reputation Management

Online Reputation Management is vital to a companies marketing efforts because it functions as a form of digital ‘word of mouth’ for a businesses reputation. More and more often people are researching the products and services they plan to buy or use online. Often based on a 0 to 5 star system, these reviews can make or break a business.

We use Online Reputation Management monitor and manage content that reflects upon our clients business. This content comes in many forms and is found in a varity of places across the Internet.

The material monitored consists mostly user-created reviews and comments most often found on the many smaller Local Search providers such as Yelp.com and YellowPages.com. of includes both professional journalism and user-created content found on sites such as forums, blogs, social networks.

The Top 3 Local Search providers; Google, Yahoo and Bing use the reviews (often called citations) from the smaller Local Search Providers to round out a Local Search businesses listing.

Cheating on Local Search sites by posting fraudulent or fake business reviews is a very common practice.

Methods for dealing with fraudulent content are many and sometimes require what some people would consider extreme or (BlackHat) techniques . and sometimes can include formal “take-down” requests to try to convince site managers to remove negative content, and finally, litigation.

Proactive reputation-building techniques are by far the most effective means of dealing with Online Reputation issues. There are many ways to do this including…

First and foremost… Doing things right!

Responding immediately to public criticism

Offering free products to prominent reviewers

Using QR Codes to promote positive comments and reviews

Custom Mobile Application Development

We provide our clients with custom mobile applications designed to fit the unique needs of their business and how they interact with their customers.

In order to avoid the steep development costs and long development cycles associated with mobile application development we use existing free Open Source Technologies whenever possible.

QR Codes For Business Reviews
Design Weaver Marketing
Design Weaver Marketing - Cost effective alternatives to traditional marketing solutions

QR Codes For Business Reviews

QR codes have thousands of possible uses and people are coming up with new ways to use them all the time. But none of the new ideas about how to use QR Codes comes close to being as powerful this method of using QR Codes!

And that is sending customers straight to the actual web page where they can simply login and post a review right there on their smart phone. The logic is simple and the method is clean, quick and easy. Just look at how simple this is when you do it with a QR Code compared to asking a customer to visit a website and leave a review.

Without QR Code:

Visit the Yelp web page: http://www.yelp.com/phoenix

Select ‘Write A Review’: http://www.yelp.com/writeareview

Search for your business: http://www.yelp.com/writeareview/search?war_desc=camelback+toyota&war_loc=Phoenix%2C+AZ

Click on the ‘Write A Review’ button: http://www.yelp.com/writeareview/biz/zkw-peCF6FDKuopAp8LBzw?return_url=%2Fwriteareview%2Fsearch%3Fwar_desc%3Dcamelback%2Btoyota%26war_loc%3DPhoenix%252C%2BAZ

Enter your review.

Login in and post the review.

Now with a QR Code:

Go for it… Click here!

Or snap the QR Code below…

Nothing is as simple as snapping a QR Code. But not everyone knows how to do it yet, though it’s only a matter of time. And if your customer does not know how to use a QR Code, well that’s even better!

Giving The Gift Of QR Codes To A Customer

It will only take you one minute to show a customer how to use a QR Code, but they will remember who taught them how to do it for a very long time, if not for ever! Now, I am a little biased about all this… But it is really something special to learn how to use a QR Code. It’s so simple and yet it’s so powerful. Being the one to teach someone how to use a QR Code is a great way to build rapport with a customer. Do it with excitement and joy and you will really make an impression on them and trust me, they will reflect it in the review they leave about your business. (If all things are equal and you DID PROVIDE THEM WITH A QUALITY SERVICE OR PRODUCT!)

Don’t know how to use a QR Code yourself? Well, well, well! This is my lucky day, is it not? I’m going to teach you the magic of QR Codes right now. First you need a smart phone. I use wonderful little SANYO with the Cricket Wireless Service and the Android operating system from Google, of coarse…

You can get the QR Code App in many ways… You can visit this web page from your desktop or notebook to learn about Android, smart phones or just bop around and take in the mobile magic that is everywhere on the Google Mobile Website…

Or Go to this mobile site on your smart phone: m.google.com

Here is a list of QR Code applications to choose from: https://market.android.com/search?q=qr+code&so=1&c=apps

Or Visit the Google Mobile Phone Gallery. Anywhere you go on these websites all you need to do is search for ‘QR Code App‘ from your smart phone, download and install the application. It’s simple. And there are several application that all pretty much do the same thing, decode QR Codes.

Once you have one installed, load the app and it will turn on your camera with a frame to put the QR Code inside. Aim your camera, center the code and snap! That’s all there is to it. Then you will have the option of executing the code, viewing the actual commands within the code or any number of other things depending on the QR Code app you are using.

Ready to make your own QR Codes to get your customers posting reviews for your business? It’s just as east to generate QR Codes as it is to decode them, and maybe even easier! Once again, you have many choices… I suggest you start out simple with this Google App Spot web site or visit the qrstuff web site. As soon as you get the hang of it, just query Google, com with the phrase ‘generate qr codes‘ and you are off to the business review races!

Happy QR Codes to you my friend!
