Automated Linking Services are a great way to get links. But if you know what you are doing and are not aftaid to take the next step, try Blackhat Link Cloaking. You can turn reciprocal links into oneway links in the eyes of the search engines. Everyon besides a search engine spider will see the links just fine. Even the automated Linking Services Link Bot will see the links and youe account will be safe because nobody will have a clue but you!

It toolk me months to get Link Cloaking working just right and now it works perfect! I would still like to add some stats that report when and how many spiders came to look for your links and went away disapointed. It is 8/29/2010 right now and I should have the stats workiing in a week or two…

Visit http://link-fusion.ods.org/ to check out my link cloaking program. And while we are on the subject of SEO, check out SEO tools from Rapidshare.

When the Internet way new, all websites were fresh and new like a newspaper. But over time static websites get old and outdated. Eventually it’s bound to happen to any website based on static content. This is what I call a mature website. It has past the development cycle and usually been online and indexed by the search engines for several years.

Mature websites performed their function well over the years and have become some what of an after thought to their owners. It’s not until the march of time catches up to them and it begins to lag in the search engine results that it becomes obvious something is wrong.

When a website stops changing, it sits still and the rest of the world keeps right on going without it. The search engines begin to pay less attention to it because they prefer relevant and timely content. After all, they are not in the business of indexing history books. Search engines want what their users want and they want to know about what is going on today. They want websites that are more like news papers.

If your website has become more like a history book than a news paper, it will eventually begin to suffer its search engine rankings and a drop in traffic. While it’s never to late to do something about this kind of situation, it’s always better to address the issue before it becomes a problem.

Starting where you left off on your website by making new pages and linking them to the old ones is an option. However the underlying technology itself is outdated and it a good idea to look at implementing a content management system instead.

WordPress is an Open Source content management system that has taken the Internet by storm and for a good reason. It’s just plain great software. It’s completely free with no strings attached, used by millions of websites and has more themes, plug-ins and other third party resources than any other platform.SEO for mature websites making it the most dynamic and easily customizable website platform in the world.

WordPress is search engine optimized right out of the box. It’s a great starting point for an old website that needs a new lease on life. So the bottom line in SEO for any mature website is WordPress.

This IS the best keyword suggestion tool on the web. Listen to what the big names have to say…

“The coolest feature it offers is that it allows you to download thousands of keywords at once.”

- Aaron Wall, SEOBook

“WordStream has launched a free keyword research tool that is better than Google’s limited one.”

- Frank Watson, Search Engine Watch

Let’s look at the results of a quick run through the tool and then I suggest you go check it out for yourself. First a simple one phrase query…

Best Keyword Suggestion Tool

First query
one phrase: webmaster tools
less than one second
536 results

Not bad for a little keyword too like in an iframe! But don’t even think about getting excited yet. That was nothing. Now let’s pile on some more phrases and see how the little keyword tool does…

Best Keyword Suggestion Tool

Second query
three phrase: webmaster tool, seo tools and keyword tool
About one second
2,307 results

Not bad! But you might have a question or two at this point. Like why does it say
‘top 100 of 2,307 keywords’ if it’s going to give us all the keywords it finds?

That’s a good question. My guess is to keep the tool fast and save bandwidth. But that’s not going to keep you from getting your full keyword list! But before I get to that, let’s really put the pressure on this little tool and get some numbers out of it. The way to do that is to ad a very broad search phrase to the query like ‘seo’. So let’s do just that and see what happens.

Best Keyword Suggestion Tool

Bam! 24,865 results in less than two seconds. How is that for a keyword suggestion tool? And now for the best part… There is no limit on how many times you can run this little bugger. Although I have not really pushed the issue, it has not shown any sign of letting up on the numbers it puts out.

Another cool feature is the ability to exclude phrases as you can see in this next image, all you have to do is move your mouse over a phrase and a red X pops up for you to click and exclude that phrase.

Best Keyword Suggestion Tool

And when you are satisfied you have enough keywords to keep you busy for a while, all you need to do is enter your email address in the box at the bottom and click the button. Within two to three seconds, you email will arive and prompt you to download a CSV file with your keywords.

Best Keyword Suggestion Tool

Open you file and there are your keywords. I would add the keyword to this message… But I don’t think that’s such a good idea.

Instead, here is a video for you to watch about the best keyword suggestion tool on the web. But if I was you, I would be gone by now playing with the tool!

Multi Revenue Websites – How you can Build a Web site

Original write-up by Multi Profit Websites

It really is turning into a lot more complicated each and every day for making any dollars on the internet without a internet site. If you are not a programmer, that you are setting yourself up for any globe of stress whenever you try to create the HTML code on your individual internet site and activate all the processes it will take to market items and get compensated.

It can be critical to don’t forget that, regardless of what type of internet site you want to acquire, your web page has one purpose only – to market your product (or somebody elses!) for your clients. Poorly developed internet websites will not have an irresistible list of benefits or a strong call to action that gets your visitors to purchase your item.

Many potent options are readily available to assist you that will let you get a good-looking, professional web page on the internet in a quick time, at times in a very couple of hours.
Blogs have transformed themselves from private journals into extremely profitable sales tools that have created a whole lot of entrepreneurs a whole lot of cash inside a short time. Yahoo loves weblogs mainly because of their constantly altering written content as the blog site proprietor posts new details as well as the subscribers comment or ask inquiries.
Many sites use sessions to gather and maintain information about a user and display different content to a user based on that session. So when a search engine tries to crawl a page with a session ID is gets an error.

You should be using cookies to handle session IDs and other session-based data thai is being passed in the URL. Also it’s a good idea to use URL aliasing on sites with dynamic URLs. URL aliasing is rewriting the URL to be human readable so users don’t have to look at an ugly URL. Most content management systems already do this by default, however if you have some goof ball know it all programmer that made your website… You better take a second look at your website. Use mod rewrites for Apache servers and ISAPI filters for Windows Servers.

Making money on the internet isn’t easy, since there’s more than one way to go about it. Google AdSense happens to be one of the most popular methods to start earning an income online, and many people have taken advantage of it. On the other hand, there are lots of people who use Adsense without comprehending the way it works. However, there are many people who have used Adsense successfully just by including a bit of code on their website. Google provides this code and, by putting it on your website, you’ll experience ads on your site that have to do with your niche. Then, when people come to your site and click on one of those ads, you get paid. Although Google won’t tell you how much money you’ll get when someone clicks, it’s usually very worth it. You’re about to learn about some Adsense methods that are great for beginners.

Knowing whether or not your AdSense code is setup properly is vital and Google provides a method for finding out if it works with the AdSense Preview Tool. When you get this tool installed on your website, you will be able to easily determine what ads are on your site. You will have the capability of seeing which ads are be shown in other countries due to the fact that AdSense is geo-specific. For example, if you want to know what types of ads are shown in Texas, you can utilize this tool. You need to keep another technique in mind and that’s how to place your ads, since you can affect your revenue by proper placement. How and where you place your ad blocks on your website will determine if your income would increase or decrease. Using 250X250 and 336 X 280 ad sizes are the way to get the most from Adsense. On the other hand, you should consider your ad sizes depending on what your overall aim is. When you put ads on your site, you really should put them at the top of your site so that more eyeballs see it and more people will act on them.

If you want your AdSense income to mature, you need to write a lot of new articles. Put fresh daily articles on your site so that you can increase your AdSense money. When you have a considerable amount of content on your website, you’ll see that your search engine traffic will grow and so will your AdSense revenue. So the more visitors you get, the higher your AdSense clicks will be. In conclusion, you can make lots of money with Adsense as long as you heed the above advice and you avoid the common mistakes many people make.

Free is a great price!

I was reading the Free Link Analysis Service reviews over at the excellent Top Rank Online Marketing Blog yesterday. Going down the list stopped at each one to visit their website and maybe put their service to the test.

As usual with a cheap guy like me, I had one over riding criteria in the back of my mind that out weighed all other factors when looking at these services. Not how much was it going to cost, but was it FREE?

As I got to the end of the list I was a bit disappointed that none of them had Free Link Analysis Service version of the service! No light version or stripped down economy model. At best one of them had a month long trial of the service and then it was time for the credit card. I learned not to get involved in deals like that by having girlfriends that worked the same way.

Not being the kind of guy that gives up, I started down the list of comments looking for a Link Service suggestion that might fit the bill. Or not as the case may be… And sure enough halfway down the list there was a suggestion http://www.linkdiagnosis.com/ So I figure 11 could just as easily be my lucky number as 1. Or 2 for that matter… Or 3 or 4 or 5 or what ever!

This text covers a a lot discussed subject within the search engine optimisation community. Additionally, clients and infrequently web site owners provide you with questions about what hyperlinks to get, and find out how to get them. Notice that I can’t take into account reciprocal links here, due to better alternatives, and because their effectiveness only applies to a small variety of sites, who use them underneath 10% of their overall link ratio. I’ll assessment the main varieties you want to get for your site.

The pure one-method links.
This one is solely based in good content and resources. This is the safest method of link building available as far as serps, which look at the “intent” of links. But it is usually the slowest. If your website is new, then as part of its launch, submit it to niche web directories. Start with a number of highly trusted directories, however would not have greater than 10-15% of your general hyperlinks coming from them. Don’t overlook industry-particular directories which may be paid or unpaid. These normally ship highly certified traffic and generally is a actual bargain. Directories will get you website many natural one-means hyperlinks, at a pure speed of growth. This mixture of sort and pace is very beneficial. Look for sites that will profit from providing customers your content.

Linkbaiting, or link bait.
This one shouldn’t be straightforward, and entails creativity. However it’s price every effort. Linkbaiting refers to content, movies, photographs or anything on your website that’s created with the intention of increasing hyperlinks to it. It’s extremely effective in getting links, most likely the most cost effective too, based on the price of the “bait” you employ, has no detrimental results from the search engines, at the least not for the moment, since all hyperlinks generated look natural. When complemented by social bookmarking, the networks associated with these hyperlinks will add much more worth to them.

Paying for links, or paid links.
These links can have great quick-term search benefits. These are good mainly for websites which have tons of pages with content, and have been nicely established online for years. In addition, these websites also have tons of natural links to them, once more as a result of they’d been properly established online for years. These usually are not advisable for brand new sites. Search for sites that are highly on topic with yours, and in complementary niches. A very important factor in the evaluation of these hyperlinks, like any other, is age. And the newest “Google Slap” impact were websites fall move the top 30 within the listings, is affecting primarily those which do heavy hyperlink buying.

Unhealthy hyperlinks and their effects.
Outbound links play an enormous position in the way engines like google determine who your “neighborhood” is. Bad neighborhoods will have an effect on your search engine rankings. Issues like FFA (Free For All) hyperlink pages, links farms, and so forth, fall in this category. Notice that this has nothing to do together with your pages going into the supplemental index. That is not the sort of penalty these hyperlinks trigger to your site. And the amount of unhealthy links thought-about is a big one. A small quantity of them would not trigger a penalty, but make it possible for your website shouldn’t be related in any approach to these link patterns.

Start Hogging The Spotlight!

Link Baiting Is The The Most Powerful Form Of Linking

Links produce traffic directly. More people, more prospects, more money. That’s easy. Search engines interpret links as proof of your site’s quality. More links, better results in the search engines. More traffic, more prospects, more money.

You can build links one at a time with some kind of exhaustive 2 way link trading process.

You can buy them in bulk from dealers of questionable ethical stature and risk the wrath of an angry Google.

You can waste hours and hours submitting to directories in hopes of bumping your link total.

All of those methods might work… But then again, they might not work. Even if they do, you will be an old fart before you see any real significant improvment in your search engine results.

There Must Be A Better Way? Yes there is and it’s called Link Baiting!

So learn Successful Link Baiting Strategies

SEO Advice: link bait and link baiting

Link Baiting is now recognized by the online entrepreneurs as the best way to boost link totals and get better ranking in Google.com.

If Link Baiting is so great, why isn’t everyone doing it?

Well I thought things were back to normal on the website. After all, how long could it take for a webmaster to get some help with something like this. After all it the 20th century and everyone is connected to each other. Help can’t be to far away anymore.

Not on the Internet! The website is still in the hands of the hacker that riped it off. And I found out the hard way. Left a message cause I thought things were back to normal only to come back the next day to sign in and bam! Look what I got…

Banned For Life!!!

All I did was tell him how I felt… And there was so much I never got a chance to tell him. He must not like that touchy/freely stuff. Although I feel fulfilled in a way. I did get to finish my last statement,

But you would think a hacker would know, you can’t get rid of someone that does not want to go on the Internet. How long do you think it was before I was right back at the doorstep 100% all me chating with him thinking I was 100% someone else all together? Oh, less that five minutes I would say. Maybe four.

This may be hard for a webmaster to to imagine… It certainly was for me until I sat there and watched in disbelief as a website disappeared right before my eyes and then moments latter reappeared on another domain. I thought I was seeing things at first. Then I figured it was my browser having a fit of some kind. And finally, just before I realized a few hours later what was really going on, I thought it was a case of the Internet itself going crazy.

I kept checking the address bar, different brewer and even rebooted my machine. Then I started poking around the website and noticed a bunch of visitors in one place and decided something must be up.

Let me back track for a moment and let you catch up with me. I am talking about a great low budget webmaster resource called nulledscripts.com. Yes, it’s one of those sites and yes, I’m one of those nickle and dime webmasters that can’t afford the toys I dream about at night. So this is where I hang out when I need a script to play with or a problem to distract me from my life for a while.

It’s a customized forum with links to all kinds of file hosting sites like rapidshare and such. And each thread is setup as a category for discussion or a directory for links to a certain type of script. You can see how many people are visiting each category and who they are. Now back to the insanity.

Everything is going wacko on the site and here is everyone in one place. So I go look and real site webmaster is going back and forth with the hacker that just hijacked his website. I mean they were going at it. The hacker was changing the image of the himself and the real webmaster to go along with the emotion and it roller coastered up and down and all around. ‘I’m sorry to say, but it was very funny as well as screwed up’.

This went on into the early morning and around sunrise all parties were drained from the exchange to say the least. The hacker closed the discussion and everyone went their own ways. The website was basically gone! Just like someone had walked up and grabbed something right out of your hands and walked away.

I was telling someone about it a few hours latter and went to look at the domain and to my surprise it was back online. So I thought it was over and that was all there would be to it. But things were different and it looked like some was wrong. I went to send the webmaster a message of support and when I clicked submit, it said message fail. Your banned from the site . You belong in jail #$#$%$#.

I just sat there stunned for a moment. The hacker had managed to re-point the DNS to his own server and started making changes to the site, user accounts and the ads on the site. I figured I was not going to let this asshole chase me off so quickly. After a few minutes I started clicking the back button so I could see the things i would no longer be able to look at without an account. Sure enough there was a lot to see once I looked more closely.

This is the first one i notice that really strikes me. It says”This is the first time I ask here for money, but I really need $35. I have VPS where I host important sites (School, ect.) and unfortunately, I can’t pay it this month due to big family problems. If there is someone that can donate $35 or borrow to me. I’d be grateful to him. Lifetime VIP is also your reward.

I need this today because it’s over due.

Thanks, Adrean

my PayPal is aidrainfan92@gmail.com

This next one he goes on to explain the down time last night and the loss of blog posts. Real convincing again!

This is his profile,

Birth date – June 22nd

Romainan Web Designer

Admin with one message post

And here is his PayPal donation form all setup and ready for the flood of money!

I got to run right now, but this will get better when i come back. I’ll dig the pictures used in the discussion between the hacker and webmaster out of my cache directory and try to recreate the discussion…

These were the headlines when after many years of development and successful use the King Of The Black Hat Seo`s decided to allow people not just to be able to take a sneaky peek at his personal suite of SEO tools, but actually able to own them.

Autopligg was a wake up call to the entire SEM and Link Building industry!

This tool allows you to cheat your way to the top of the search engines and steal the much desired making money positions, NO MORE BREAKING THE BANK BUYING LINKS..

What is Autopligg and why do I need it?

To rank in the search engines you need lots and lots of links from other sites pointing at your web site.
Content alone will not rank you on first page of Google , yahoo or Bing because the search engines look to see how many external sites link to your web site and the link text of these sites to decide where to position you.

For some longer search strings you sometimes just need a few links but for the more competitive terms you need to get lots and lots of links but these can seem impossible to gain from the normal channels.

If you have ever built a web site about casino or pharm you will know that its near on impossible to gain links without spending thousands of months.
This is the reason the big online casino seo`s come to us when they need links because with autopligg getting them links and sending them traffic they can slash their spending by thousands a month but keep their positions.

1. Pligg is a web 2.0 social voting web site that anyone can setup.

2. Pligg site owners solicit users to post links and story’s.

3. Just by doing a quick search i found 6,730,000 pligg sites.

4. You will need lots of different web sites linking to your web site.

5. You can use Autopligg to submit to thousands of pligg sites daily.

6. Your web site will be listed on many different Pligg sites.

7. The search engines will see lots of web site referencing yours.

8. Your web site will rise in position in the search engines because you look popular.

Those whom are Serious About SEO and SEM use Autopligg!

We will provide full support for newbies that are learning but you need to understand this is a powerful tool and could be a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands.

If you are in some of the more competitive industry’s you will know that its almost impossible to build one way links to something like an Online Casino site or even just a normal Pharmacy site.

Can a new Blog take the # 1 Position in the Google ahead of well established PageRank 7 and PageRank 8 websites?

The Under Dog Blog I am talking about has not been optimized for the search query in question. In fact, the EXACT PHRASE can not be found any where on the on the page. (This is not a joke or a trick)

The Blog Has No Google PageRank!

No Inbound Links Reported By Google!

And No Alexa Data What So Ever!

Update To Blog Post

After well over a month in # 1 position, my research subject has slipped to the # 2 position. I’ll quit acting like a smart ass jerk and give you the facts.

Here is the search query: poway real estate search (opens in a new window)

The top position for this listing is due to the exact occurrence of the search query within the url itself. I’m sure know that our would have figured it out in a few moments.

All the PR7 & 8 sites are still ranked below the Under Dog Blog so the fundamentals of this query and my conclusions appear to be intact for the moment. The only change appears to be a new site that jumped ahead of the study subject. It may be a paid listing that just falls lower than I’m used to seeing them land on a page.

If you have any insights to add about this website and it’s ranking ahead of all the big boys of real estate, I wold like to hear from you. If your interested in how to make use of this kind of exact query to url match using sub-domains and some fancy keyword generation feel free to contact me. I have been doing this for almost 8 years on MSN and it started working in for Google after the Mayday Update and has been going strong and stable.

Matt Cutts has made it clear the Mayday update was a success, Google is pleased with the out come of the changes and there are no plans to change or roll back any of the changes. To me that is a green light to go ahead and optimize for the Mayday Update with confidence and gusto.

Design Enhancements

WordPress 3.0 provides several major enhancements in the form of form of APIs that allows you to make changes to your blog that would otherwise only be possible for programmers. In other words it will be easy to tweak your blog. Things like custom background, headers and menus and custom post types. There is also a new default theme called Twenty Ten that was designed to illustrates the new API features.

Improved Usability

You will find a new and lighter user interface combined with contextual help on every screen making the overall blog experience easier and more enjoyable.

Greater Flexibility

Technically inclined people such as webmasters and developers will undoubtedly be pleased to find the merger of WordPress MU (the multi user version) and the regular WordPress is now seamless. With the problems of compatibility behind us developers can return to the art of creating the future and forget about fixing the past. And if all that is not enough, add 1,217 bug fixes and feature enhancements. I think you will be pleased with WordPress 3.0.

WordPress 3.0

WordPress MU or the multi user version of the popular blog application so many of us have come to love was not a simple application to say the least. Well WordPress MU is a thing of the past now that the new WordPress 3.0 is out of Beta testing and ready for the big time. That is because the new version of WordPress incorporates the functionality of of WordPress MU. It’s still not a simple task to setup a multi user version of of WordPress, but it better than than it used to be.

WordPress 3.0 Install Issues

The installation of WordPress 3.0 is as smooth as the previous version of WordPress. But it does not install the multi user features either. While it may not be as complicated to get the full multi user version up and running as it was with MU, it’s still a little confusing at best and if you have never worked with the MU version of WordPress, you are going to need some help. The documentation is scarce and even when you find the instruction on how to proceed, you will likely need to do a little research on your own to understand how to configure WordPress to work with sub-domains. Or just stick with me for a few more minutes as we go over the steps in this article.

Getting Started with WordPress 3.0

So let’s start at the beginning. You have a web hosting account that supports PHP, MySQL and you’re comfortable with an FTP client or a web based file manager. That’s a good start. If you are starting to worry already, hang in there and we’ll do our best to pull you through this with as little pain as possible. And rest assured, the good folks that develop WordPress are highly skilled individuals and have made simple the process of installing a highly advanced application on a very complex computer system known as a web server.

First, go to http://wordpress.org/ and download the WordPress 3.0 setup file. You will have two choices, a relatively failure compressed .zip file and a not so failure .tar.gz file. If you’re not sure, don’t give it another thought. Download the .zip file and save it someplace where you will be able to find it.

Transfer WordPress 3.0 Install Files

If you are going to use an FTP client and you are not going to install WordPress in your root directory, unzip the file and upload the files with the directory structure intact. You can change or rename the directory you install WordPress in as you see fit. If you are going to install in your root directory and upload the files with a web based file manager, you will want to extract the files into a directory and then zip them without the wordpress directory within the zip file. That way you can upload the entire install file and unzip it right into your root directory (public_html or www) on your web server. In most cases you will not need to change any file permissions or edit configuration any files.

The WordPress 3.0 Database

Next you will want to create a MySQL database, setup a user account and provide the user account complete access to the MySQL database. If you are working with Cpanel as your website control panel, find the MySQL Database Wizard and start it up. Call your database something simple like ‘wp’ and create a user account and password. Then you will have the option to assign the user account to the database and set your level of access to the database. Give the user account full access to everything.

User and Database Name Issues

Pay attention here as this is where most problems people have setting up WordPress arise. The MySQL database Wizard will use the user name you provide, but will append the website control panel user account name to front of both the database name and use MySQL user account name. So if your website control panel user name is ‘robert’ and you created a MySQL user account named ‘admin’ your MySQL database user name might end up being something like robert_admin and if you created a MySQL database called ‘wp’ it might end up something like ‘robert_wp’.

Start the WordPress 3.0 Setup

Once you finish all that, fire up your web browser and point it to the location you uploaded your WordPress application files. If you get it right the WordPress Install should come up and prompt you to continue. The setup will ask you a question or two make you click to continue and then ask you to create your WordPress user account and password and your done with the WordPress setup.

Personalize WordPress 3.0

We will continue this discussion and go over the steps needed to personalize your WordPress blog. We’ll make some changes to the default configuration to improve search engine optimization. Walk you through the process of finding, installing and activation new themes, plug-ins and widgets. We’ll go over many of the features that help make WordPress a fun and easy to use alternative to the complicated old fashion websites of the past.

What Makes WordPress 3.0 Special

And while we are here, we’ll look at some of the exciting new technologies that are changing the way people communicate and interact with the people we know. And just to be safe, we will go over the risks and challenges of entering cyberspace.

The Future Of WordPress 3.0

Finally we will go over the setup and configure the advanced multi user functions inherited from WordPress MU and the opportunities personal blog networks present, opportunities we can hardly imagine.

I have been saving money for a new serve and I just got it! The plan is to setup WordPress MU/BuddyPress for a real estate blog/social network.

Basic WordPress Blogs will be 100% free - the server can run 1,000′s of them with out any problem.

Custom Blogs with social networking plugins will have a one time fee of $200.

Custom Blogs with on-going search engine optimized and content generation will cost an extra $20 to $40 a month.

Read the PC PRO website review of the server. It’s a next generation server unlike anything I have ever seen before.

HP ProLiant ML350 G5 Dual Xeon

HP’s ProLiant servers continue to grow in popularity, with a recent report from analyst Gartner showing that this product family contributed significantly to HP firmly holding the top spot in global server shipments during 2007.

It’s easy to see why, since both rack and tower ProLiants offer a fine combination of features at affordable prices – and on review we have the latest ML350 G5, which HP boldly claims to be one of the most flexible tower servers in the world.

Build quality is up to the expected standard, with the server’s chassis and panels looking quite capable of handling the rigours of a busy office.

Physical security is particularly good, as the front door protects all expansion and drive bays plus the power and reset buttons. It can be key-locked shut, and this action also prevents the side panel from being removed.

There’s certainly plenty of choice in the storage department, as the server is endowed with a Smart Array 200i embedded controller that supports SAS or SATA hard disks.

You have two choices of hot-swap drive cage, with the review system kitted out with the six-bay SATA model, but you can go for the eight-bay 2.5in SAS drive version.

For a general purpose SMB server we’d recommend going for high capacity, low-cost SATA drives, since you’re unlikely to see any significant performance benefits from more expensive SAS drives.

The five 5.25in expansion bays up above the hard disks do seem excessive, as even with a DVD drive in the lower one we struggled to think of four more devices we’d want to fit in the remaining bays.

With the A-Listed Primergy TX300 S4 Fujitsu Siemens’ has been more inventive, as the server has fewer expansion bays and enough room for two hot-swap cages that each support up to six 2.5in SFF hard disks.

Internally, everything looks neat and tidy, with cabling kept to a minimum. A pair of processor sockets are located just behind the upper expansion bays, one with a decent 2.5GHz quad-core Xeon.

Eight memory banks are positioned towards the rear and the price for the review system includes the base configuration of 1GB, which can be upped to 16GB.

A minor complaint is the small plastic shroud used to direct air across the DIMM sockets, which is firmly fixed to the upper rear cooling fan and the whole assembly must be unclipped to gain access to them.

Office staff will approve of the server’s silent running. There’s a pair of large cooling fans at the rear, and the single processor in the review unit has an active heatsink, but we had to switch almost everything else off in the lab before we could even hear this system.

Adding a second processor will increase noise output, but either way you’d be hard-pushed to notice this server in a normal office environment. The network connection is handled by a single, embedded gigabit port, and there’s more room to expand since the motherboard offers triplets each of PCI-Express and PCI-X slots.

If a key requirement for your tower server is good remote management then look no further, as the ML350 G5 is endowed with HP’s excellent iLO2 (integrated lights out) chip. This offers a dedicated Fast Ethernet management port and its tidy web interface provides plenty of control over the server.

You can reset the server, power it off and on and emulate pressing the power button, and iLO2 provides tools for monitoring the status of the controller and server and viewing installed components.

Even power management is on the menu, as you get a 60-day evaluation of HP’s latest Power Meter, Power Cap and Power Regulator options. The Power Meter offers graphs and tables showing consumption in Watts or Btu/hr, while the Power Cap feature is used to put limits on consumption.

The Power Regulator supports both AMD Opteron and Intel Xeon MP and DP processors, and dynamically controls power consumption by throttling back the processors when demand is low. Alternatively, you can set them to run at their lowest speed or highest performance, or hand control over to the OS where it can use Intel’s Demand Based Switching or AMD’s PowerNow instead.

The management bonanza doesn’t stop here either, as you have HP’s bootable SmartStart CD-ROM to get you off the starting blocks. This simplifies server installation by gathering together user and system information, loading drivers for all devices and automating OS installation.

Next up is HP’s Systems Management Homepage, which provides a complete status report on all server components plus colour-coded alerts. And then there’s HP’s Systems Insight Manager (SIM) software suite, which delivers enhanced browser-based remote server monitoring. Any HP server with an Insight agent can be accessed remotely, and SIM provides a detailed report on system operations plus extensive alerting facilities.

There’s no denying the ML350 G5 has masses of expansion potential, although the glut of 5.25in bays does reduce storage capacity substantially. Nevertheless, this is one very quiet and very well built server that offers good value and some quality remote management features.

Does it look hot? It was! I got a good sun/fire burn.

The old lady that owned the place was still in the hospitol last I heard. They told me she may not make it.

I have lost so much in my life… people, places and things. When I went back to get my car and the things I managed to save, everything was gone. I’m glad I took as much as I could carry the day of the fire.

I don’t know where the old lady is now or even if she is alive. We were very close. I was lucky to have known her and been able to help take care of her. That alone more than makes up for anything I could have lost in the fire and to theft!

ALAN KENNEDY, 54, had never used social networking sites until he was laid off from his job as an engineer last November. Then he did what many job seekers are now advised to do: he set up profiles on Facebook and LinkedIn.

In March, after several depressing months of searching, Mr. Kennedy received a “Jobvite,” an e-mail invitation to apply for a job. The invitation came from a former co-worker who had gone to work for Hubspot, a company based in Cambridge, Mass., that sells Web-based marketing software. Hubspot had open positions and was offering bonuses to its employees to help fill them.

Mr. Kennedy’s former co-worker, Brian Karbel, used a software tool to search the profile information of his Facebook friends and LinkedIn contacts. He flagged Mr. Kennedy as a possible match to a job listing. Mr. Kennedy, who lives in the Boston area, responded to the invitation, scheduled an interview and, within a week, was working as a support engineer there. “I landed a job I might never have even heard of otherwise,” he said.

Until recently, Facebook might have been more likely to be viewed as a barrier to getting a job. Cautionary tales circulate of job offers rescinded after an employer discovered unseemly content on an applicant’s Facebook page. Social network users have been advised to sanitize their personal pages when job hunting, lest potential employers spot an inappropriate photo or comment.

But now more personal pages, profiles and social networks are serving as fodder for companies looking to fill jobs. To mine its employees’ social networking contacts for potential hires, a business can pay for services from companies like Appirio or Jobvite, whose service Mr. Kennedy used. Both are based in the San Francisco area.

A hiring company that uses Appirio’s product asks its employees to add an application to their Facebook pages. The tool will notify the employees when new jobs open and which of their friends might be a good fit.

“Appirio’s matching engine comes up with a list of friends whose job titles, geographic location and other keywords match their company’s available positions, and the employee can send them a referral in Facebook,” said Ryan Nichols, Appirio’s vice president for product management. The matching engine has access to the same information that a Facebook friend does.

A friend who gets a referral can apply for the job if interested. If that person is hired, the company can use Appirio’s service to track which employee found the match and offer a referral bonus.

To address privacy concerns, the list of possible candidates is available only to the friend/employee and not to the hiring company or software provider. “People’s Facebook friends don’t want their personal information going to any companies they haven’t specifically authorized,” Mr. Nichols said, “so to protect their privacy, the candidate list isn’t sent back to the hiring company or reused in any way.”

Jobvite offers a similar service with a wider range. While the Appirio software can currently search Facebook contacts, the Jobvite tool can search Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter contacts. “And anyone who receives a Jobvite can search their own networks and pass it along again,” said Dan Finnigan, the chief executive of Jobvite.

“Employees have always referred friends for jobs,” he said, “Our technology just does the matching for them.”

Recipients who are hired can be tracked to the original sender for a referral bonus, even if the Jobvite has been passed from one mailbox to another up to six times.

Total Attorneys, in Chicago, started using Jobvite when the recruiting tool was introduced in March. Total Attorneys provides law firms with marketing services and with administrative tasks like preparing bankruptcy petitions.

Ed Scanlan, the chief executive of Total Attorneys, said: “Friends of our employees are more likely to have the same characteristics our employees do — hard-working, smart — so they’ve gone through a natural filter,” he said.

In a six-week period this spring, Total Attorneys hired 21 new employees. Eleven came from employee referrals, and of those, four came through Jobvite’s social networking search, he said.

GLADYS STONE, a corporate recruiter in San Francisco, says it’s smart for employers to tap into employees’ social networks. This accelerates the personal referral process and widens the field, as many social network users have hundreds of friends or contacts in their networks, she said.

And while some may be disconcerted that software from an unknown company is searching their profiles, Ms. Stone says that most know that information on the Web can be used in ways that people don’t expect, and that LinkedIn, in particular, is built to make professional information available.

Mr. Scanlan said that recruiting through his employees’ social networks was a natural progression from using Craigslist and job Web sites over the past few years. He hopes to make this grass-roots type of recruiting part of his company’s culture. “This is beyond the H.R. department,” he said. “All employees should be talent recruiters.”

And Mr. Nichols said that in an environment of high unemployment, friends want to help one another find jobs.

While Ms. Stone sees the value in the new tools, she also advises job seekers to take matters into their own hands.

“Use your social networking sites to reach out and tell everyone you know what kind of job you’re looking for,” she said. “You can’t always wait to receive an invitation.”

Once something is submitted, other people see it and Digg what they like best. If your submission rocks and receives enough Diggs, it is promoted to the front page for the millions of our visitors to see.

And it doesn’t stop there. Because Digg is all about sharing and discovery, there’s a conversation that happens around the content. We’re here to promote that conversation and provide tools for our community to discuss the topics that they’re passionate about. By looking at information through the lens of the collective community on Digg, you’ll always find something interesting and unique. We’re committed to giving every piece of content on the web an equal shot at being the next big thing.

Who’s behind Digg?

Aside from the community, there’s a hard-working team behind the Digg site. Founded by Kevin Rose and launched in November 2004, Digg has grown to be one of the most popular sources of information on the Web through the efforts of a passionate group of developers, database administrators, designers, and other individuals. The team is led by CEO Jay Adelson, founder of the billion-dollar company Equinix (EQIX). If you’re interested in joining us, we’re looking for more talented people to join Digg, so be sure to check out our jobs page.

If statistics are to be believed, then e-Marketer, an internet research firm states that the current numbers of mobile internet users across the globe are 450 million. With the trend of mobile commerce catching up in the internet space, it is acclaimed that Mobile Browsing will become the next big thing in the coming years and the number of users shall approximately double in the next 4 years. The constant innovation in the mobile manufacturing arena with devices and features such as PDA, camera, email, internet browsers, MP3 players etc. offer a great opportunity for affiliates to tap into the mobile space.

The increasing number of WAP users who prefer quick solutions to their problems presents a scope for affiliates to tap into three major mobile channels. Namely,

Mobile Messaging – Advertising opportunities via SMS or MMS for text advertisements, splash pages and animated images.

Mobile Web – Advertising opportunities on the mobile web involves banner advertising, text ads and branded mobile websites which work on a CPC or CPM approach.

Mobile Video – Mobile video includes specifically branded videos which are live, podcasts or downloaded. The advertisements here can be on the basis of pre-, post- or mid-roll adverts.

There is a major opportunity for affiliates to build on the mobile version of their successful sites in order to guarantee newer audiences and increasing the market potential. But, the pace with which the mobile browsing has been adopted by affiliates is disheartening as companies such as Commission Junction and LinkShare have been very slow in adopting it. On the contrary, Las Vegas based XY7 Network has made an innovative move by announcing that they are the only affiliates which possess dedicated division of WAP deals and other mobile-ad inventory for their mobile phone portal-owners and publishers.

The future success of affiliate’s lies in recognizing the fact that increase in number of mobile internet users will help develop affiliate marketing in an innovative way. Bango, a mobile payments and services company states that the mobile web will soon become the key medium of generating sale and earning revenue for mobile services and applications.

The challenge here lies in creating and implementing successful mobile affiliate marketing platforms which would change the way affiliate marketing is implemented in the mobile space. Companies such as Mobpartner and Jamster proudly boast of one of the best mobile platforms today by focusing on a particular niche of mobile payment settlements with merchants and mobile casino respectively. Belboon and MediaPlazza are also big players in the mobile browsing market offering scope to thousands of affiliates via the mobile web. Affiliates can also look into various adult affiliate marketing programs on the mobile which are also worth giving a shot, but are never safe as they most often get caught in filters. Admob is another very famous site which specializes in serving ads on the mobile version of sites and blogs.

The tremendous innovation in the mobile browsing has helped mobiles become something more than a fundamental communication device. Affiliate marketing programs on the mobile web have emerged as the next most viable mobile business model which for sure is here to stay. These mobile affiliate platforms can be further used as a particular functional strategy among broad marketing strategies such as CRM, Branding, Direct Sales and Direct Marketing implemented by companies. The projected forecasts suggesting increment in adoption rates are indicative enough for smart affiliates to know the fact that neglecting the mobile arena as part of broader internet marketing strategies will have a negative impact on their business model and revenues.
